We eat here every time we visit Palm Springs which is several times a year - and each time we come we grab dinner twice and breakfast at least once. This is almost, but not quite, like an 'old fashioned Mexican restaurant of yore' with big portions, a nice pool of refried pinto beans with melted cheese to the side, etc., but though the meals here are deceptively simple all ingredients are fresh, the tortillas are freshly made on site, as are the chips, the salsa -- and the flavors are really well balanced and thoughtful. We usually get the Cadillac margarita which is stronger and better tasting than the house margarita (although that one is just fine) but on this last visit we tried and recommend the Toronojil (if you like mezcal). I especially recommend anything in the pipian sauce and my husband always gets the mole. For breakfast the huevos rancheros are about perfect, super fresh, so I can't bring myself to get anything else but the other items look good and there's a gluten free waffle which looks especially good and I aspire to one day eat it. A friend got the standard American Diner style breakfast and the hashbrowns were *admirable* by any standard, beautifully browned. Service is always quick and attentive.

This was our first visit to El Mirasol South. We had eaten at and enjoyed immensely the North location at the Los Árboles Hotel which was closed for renovations during our stay. That day we hiked to the peak of Mt. San Jacinto and it kicked our butts! We really needed some good Mexican food and margaritas to revive us. We started with the De La Casa margaritas which are old school tasty margaritas! They were exactly what we needed. I wanted some decadent, cheesy enchiladas to fill my belly that since breakfast held only Kind bars and almonds from the hike. El Mirasol's fit the bill perfectly. The order comes with two enchiladas, rice, and beans. However, I am vegetarian and the rice is cooked with chicken broth so I got the rice on the side for my husband to enjoy. The enchiladas were great, pretty large and cooked in a rich tomatoey sauce. The beans were creamy with just the right amount of cheese on top. My husband got the Shrimp Doña Diabla. It had sautéed shrimp in a very spicy chipotle sauce. The menu warned that it cannot be prepared mild, but my husband likes it spicy:) he asked the server what the spice level was and she said a 7 out of 10. She obviously has a high tolerance for heat because my husband said it was more like a 9 out of 10 which for him was perfect! Beware that there are entire whole chipotle peppers served in the dish! They also did not skimp on the shrimp:) We had other Mexican food on our visit, but he proclaimed this dish to be the best of all! It is served with rice, beans, and corn tortillas. It's also gluten-free. The cherry on top was the entertainment. We had a gentleman playing his guitar and singing and after a while patrons would come up and join in. And they sounded great! A perfect end to a perfect, albeit tiring day!

have been eating at El Mirasol for over 23 years. our go to for Mexican anytime we're in Palm Springs. service has always been great! friendly and attentive. Ambiance at the Los Arboles location can't be beat in their patio; the indoor space is not as warm and welcoming as their South Palm Canyon location, but the news is they are getting a remodel in August. their house Margaritas are the best all around! love this place!

Decent restaurant for something quick to eat. We ordered the enchiladas and they good. Big portions, but expected for the price point. Service is fast, but is meh. No standout waiters to me. I would say it's a little expensive for hole in the wall food. If you're in a pinch and need food, this is the spot.

We met family here while on vacation and had a pleasant experience. We sat outside on the patio and the waitress was very attentive. I was a little disappointed to find out that they were out of a few of their menu items but it was not difficult to find something else delicious on their large menu. I ordered pork enchiladas and it was so delicious I ate it ALL. Everyone else at the table ordered carnitas that come out looking like hamburger patties which was a bit of a surprise but they were the most flavorful carnitas I have ever had. Would highly recommend ordering the carnitas in a dish if you visit. The jalapeño Margarita was good but if you don't like a nice strong kick in your drink don't get it- I loved it though! The carnitas may not look the most delicious in the review photos you see people post but believe me they are worth getting. (I didn't get a picture myself) Also
